Perfect Manhattan
1 1/2 to 2oz. blended whiskey
1/2 oz. sweet vermouth
1 dash bitters (optional)
1 maraschino cherry
Stir whiskey,vermouth, and bitters well with ice. Strain into prechilled cocktail glass. Add cherry.
VARIATION:
to make dry manhattan: substitute sweet vermouth for dry, a twist of lemon peel or an olive may be substituted for the cherry.
